Verified 2026-08-17Figures below use Level 11, Clash Royale's tournament standard, regardless of the level selected above.
A 6-Elixir Epic tank that ignores enemy troops and heads straight for buildings, while two Spear Goblins riding on its back defend independently against both air and ground threats — and keep fighting on the ground after the Giant falls. Its Evolution adds Sack-trick, spawning a steady stream of melee Goblins from its sack once its health drops to half or below.
Goblin Giant is a 6-Elixir Epic troop that walks straight past enemy units and beelines for buildings, making him a pure tank rather than a threat to defending troops. At tournament-standard level 11 he carries 3,022 hitpoints and hits for 176 damage per swing (117 damage per second), attacking every 1.5 seconds but landing his first hit in a quick 0.8 seconds after arriving. He's only a Medium-speed walker with Medium melee range, and just one deploys per card played.
Two Spear Goblins ride on Goblin Giant's back and fight completely independently of him, throwing spears up to 5 tiles at both air and ground targets even though the Giant himself can only take a swing at buildings. Each backpack Spear Goblin has just 133 hitpoints and throws for 81 damage every 1.6 seconds (50 damage per second, with a quick 0.5-second first throw), so a single splash hit or small spell can wipe both of them out. If Goblin Giant is defeated, the two Spear Goblins hop down and keep fighting on their own as regular Spear Goblin troops instead of disappearing with him.
EvolutionOnce his hitpoints drop to half or lower, the evolved Goblin Giant kicks off Sack-trick, reaching into his sack to drop a fresh Goblin roughly every 2.2 seconds for the rest of the fight. Each spawned Goblin is a normal Very Fast melee Goblin with 202 hitpoints that deals 120 damage per hit (109 damage per second) and fights on the ground on its own. The evolved charge also recharges fast: once it's been used, the Goblin Giant only needs to be cycled back into hand and played one more time before the deployment after that comes out evolved again.
Goblin Giant joined Clash Royale as an Epic troop card on 5 September 2018.
Goblin Giant took a big hit in an October 2025 balance update: hitpoints fell 7% from 3,233 to 3,020 at level 11, the backpack Spear Goblins' throwing range was trimmed from 5.5 to 5 tiles, and their opening throw slowed from 0.4 to 0.5 seconds. Supercell made the cuts to cool down a Goblin Giant and Goblin Machine deck archetype it said had reached 'peak dominance' with repetitive, rocket-fueled gameplay.
Supercell partially walked that hitpoint cut back in a June 2026 update, restoring 3% of Goblin Giant's level-11 hitpoints (from 3,020 up to 3,110) as part of a look at the P.E.K.K.A/Goblin Giant meta, while saying it would keep monitoring the card for a possible full rework.
Goblin Giant's backpack Spear Goblins used to get a hidden damage boost from Rune Giant's enchantment ability whenever the two were played together, but Supercell closed that loophole in a January 2025 balance update. 'Attached' troops like these Spear Goblins — along with Ram Rider's Rider and Goblin Machine's Rocket — no longer benefit from the enchantment's damage bonus at all, even though regular allied troops still do.
The Goblins spawned by the evolved Goblin Giant's Sack-trick always appear about 2.5 tiles behind him, toward his own side of the arena, no matter which way he's facing or moving — so they tend to land safely behind him rather than walking straight into whatever is attacking him.
