Graveyard is a 5-Elixir Legendary spell that targets any spot in a 4-tile-radius circle and, starting about 2.2 seconds after it's cast, raises Skeletons into that area one at a time over a 9-second window, for 12 Skeletons in total under the current balance. The spell deals no damage on its own — every bit of damage it produces comes from those individually fragile (81 HP) but hard-hitting (81 damage, ~73 DPS) Skeletons, which are Fast, melee-only, ground-targeting troops that swarm whatever occupies the target area, Crown Tower included.
Graveyard has been part of Clash Royale since 28 October 2016, when it launched as a Legendary spell — well after the game's worldwide release that March.
Graveyard costs 5 Elixir and opens a grave anywhere inside a 4-tile-radius circle. The first Skeleton claws free about 2.2 seconds after you cast it, and more follow roughly every half second until the effect ends 9 seconds later — a fully-played-out Graveyard raises 12 Skeletons in total. The spell itself never deals damage on its own; every point of damage it produces comes from those Skeletons attacking whatever is standing in the target area, tower included.
Each Skeleton the Graveyard raises carries 81 hitpoints and swings for 81 damage at level 11, which works out to about 73 damage per second on its 1.1-second hit cycle. Individually a Skeleton dies to almost any hit, but that damage adds up fast once several of them reach the same target unanswered — a handful of ignored Skeletons can strip a big chunk of tower health in seconds.
A freshly-risen Skeleton lands its very first swing in just 0.5 seconds, more than twice as fast as the 1.1-second cycle it settles into afterward. That quick opening hit is part of what makes walking into a cluster of Skeletons so punishing — they don't need to wind up before landing that first hit on a defender or the tower.
Once they're up, Skeletons move at Fast speed but only have melee, short-range reach, so they have to walk right up to whatever they're attacking. They're strictly ground troops — perfectly capable of hitting ground defenders or a tower, but with no way to touch anything flying, so an all-air defense takes zero damage from them.
Graveyard's active window used to run 9.5 seconds; a balance update on 5 March 2024 trimmed it to the 9 seconds it still runs today, cutting off the tail end of the spell's value by roughly one Skeleton's worth of time.
In January 2026 Supercell reworked how Graveyard's Skeletons spawn, switching from a random pattern to a fixed one so the outcome is consistent every time the spell is cast — the developers said this was meant to make it clearer whether a given Graveyard would actually reach the tower or fizzle out. The Skeleton count briefly rose to 14 as part of that same update, then was walked back down to 13 within days after players found it was giving too much value. The following month, the fixed spawn points were pulled back further from the center of the target area so defenders get more time to react before the Skeletons close in.
Graveyard's Skeleton count was cut again on 1 June 2026, from 13 down to the 12 it summons today, as part of a wider update aimed at toning down slow, spell-heavy playstyles. That update didn't touch Graveyard's own damage or duration — just the total number of Skeletons it can put out.
