Verified 2026-08-18Figures below use Level 11, Clash Royale's tournament standard, regardless of the level selected above.
Mighty Miner is a 4-Elixir Champion who digs underground like the classic Miner but trades speed for serious toughness. Once he locks onto a target, his drill attack ramps up through three stages — starting as a light peck and building into one of the hardest sustained hits in the game if nothing interrupts him, similar to how an Inferno Dragon or Inferno Tower charges up its beam. His Explosive Escape ability lets him burrow away and pop up on the mirrored spot across the arena, instantly switching lanes while leaving behind a bomb that damages and shoves back anything standing where he used to be. A recent balance update changed how often he can use it: instead of recharging on a cooldown, Explosive Escape is now single-use per life, so timing it well matters much more than it used to.
Mighty Miner is a 4-Elixir Champion who fights as a single, melee ground troop with a hit speed of 0.4 seconds and 2,250 hitpoints at tournament standard (level 11) — more than double the hitpoints of the standard Miner card he's based on.
His drill attack escalates the longer he stays locked onto one target, dealing three progressively harder stages of damage — similar to how an Inferno Dragon's beam ramps up. At tournament standard (level 11), the opening hit does 43 damage (about 107.5 damage per second), the second stage jumps to 204 damage per hit (510 per second), and the third stage reaches 409 damage per hit (1,022 per second) if the target survives that long.
That ramp-up resets back to the first, weaker stage if Mighty Miner switches targets or gets hit by a stun/knockback effect like Zap — so a well-timed reset spell is often enough to stop him from ever reaching his hardest-hitting stage.
His Explosive Escape ability costs 1 Elixir: Mighty Miner burrows underground, becomes briefly untargetable, and resurfaces at the mirror-image spot on the opposite lane — instantly swapping which side of the arena he's fighting on. He leaves behind a bomb at his old spot that explodes for 332 damage (level 11) against both air and ground targets and knocks them back about 1.8 tiles.
As of the August 2026 balance update, Explosive Escape no longer recharges on a cooldown — it dropped its old 13-second cooldown timer and became single-use instead, so Mighty Miner can only burrow away once per life before he needs to go down and be redeployed to use it again. This was part of a game-wide change that made almost every Hero and Champion ability single-use, with Boss Bandit as the lone exception.
Mighty Miner launched on 30 March 2022 as Clash Royale's fourth Champion card, arriving after the rarity's first three members — Skeleton King, Golden Knight, and Archer Queen. He's unlocked in the Royal Crypt arena.
In the balance update that followed shortly after his release, Supercell cut Explosive Escape's Elixir cost from 2 down to 1 and made Mighty Miner immune to knockback effects — both changes are still in place today.
Because he only ever hits one enemy at a time, cheap swarm troops like Skeletons, Goblins, or Spear Goblins hold him off efficiently, and keeping a ranged troop near the middle of your side denies him easy chip damage down either lane. A well-timed Zap resets his drill back to its weak opening stage before it can ramp up, and ranged units like Musketeer, Cannon Cart, or Witch can chip him down from outside his melee reach.
