Verified 2026-08-19Figures below use Level 11, Clash Royale's tournament standard, regardless of the level selected above.
Royal Giant is a 6-Elixir Common troop that plods slowly toward the enemy side and attacks only buildings — towers, cannons, Tesla, and the like — so enemy troops can't distract it and it can never be lured off its path. It has a long 5-tile range and an unusually fast opening shot, letting it start chipping a tower before the defender can react, though a 2026 balance patch slowed its follow-up attack rate specifically to stop its Evolution form's knockback from locking defenders out indefinitely. Its Evolution adds a knockback recoil on every hit that shoves back and damages nearby troops, discouraging melee units from body-blocking it up close. The Royal Giant + Fisherman combo became so dominant that Supercell eventually gutted Fisherman's slowdown effect rather than nerf Royal Giant itself any further.
Royal Giant is a 6-Elixir Common troop unlocked in the Royal Arena (Arena 7) that deploys as a single ground unit and only targets buildings — it walks straight past enemy troops to reach a tower, cannon, Tesla, or similar structure, so troop distractions have no effect on it.
At tournament standard (level 11), Royal Giant has 3,164 hit points and deals 307 damage per hit. A March 2026 Supercell balance update slowed its attack rate from once every 1.7 seconds to once every 1.8 seconds, which drops its damage output from roughly 181 to about 170 damage per second.
Its first shot comes out unusually fast — 0.9 seconds after it lands — roughly half its normal attack interval, and combined with its 5-tile range and near-instant projectile speed, it can start chipping a tower before defenders finish reacting.
It moves at only "Slow" speed, making it a durable but sluggish win condition that needs support troops or spells to survive the walk to the tower rather than tanking alone.
Evolutionits evolved form fires a knockback recoil that shoves back nearby enemies within about 2.5 tiles and deals 81 extra recoil damage at level 11 on top of its normal hit — the exact mechanic Supercell's March 2026 hit-speed nerf was aimed at, since the knockback could otherwise keep melee troops permanently out of range.
EvolutionRoyal Giant's Evolution only needs to be played once (a 1-cycle cost, cheaper than many newer Evolutions) to recharge for its next evolved use, and it shares the same 6-Elixir cost, 5-tile range, and building-only targeting as the base troop — it debuted on 19 June 2023.
In April 2026, Supercell removed Fisherman's slowdown effect entirely, explaining that the Fisherman-plus-Royal-Giant pairing had let Royal Giant remain a dominant, hard-to-punish win condition for years — rather than nerf Royal Giant again, they targeted the support card enabling it.
Royal Giant launched on 29 February 2016, in the same content update that also introduced Three Musketeers, Dark Prince, and Princess, while removing Mortar, Elixir Collector, and Golem from the Royal Arena's unlock pool.
